The list for names and menu choices for the Presentation Lunch on Friday 27th November is on the board in the Clubhouse. It would be appreciated if all winners and runner-ups in the competitions try to come to the lunch to receive their trophy and prize.
If anyone has one of the programmes (which are put on the tables) from previous lunches in their possession, please could we borrow it. Thank you. Angela

SHORT MAT
First Short Mat will start on Monday 5th October and the last session will be on Friday 18th December then resume again on Monday 4th January. The sessions will be as follows:
Mondays 10 - 12
Tuesdays 10 - 12 & 2 - 4
Wednesdays 7 - 9
Thursdays 10 - 12 & 2 - 4
Fridays 10 - 12
Session Sheets will be put on the board. (2 weeks of sessions will be available for you to book on a first come first served basis)
Dress Code: Grey trousers, white top, bowls shoes
Angela will arrange some friendly matches during the season, please look out for details for these on the board.S

Our last Club Drive for the 2026 season
On our last Saturday afternoon of the season with the sun shining once more, 35 Members gathered to play the last drive with a fish and chip supper to follow. 15 ends were played moving after 5 ends each time.
Congratulations to the winning team which was Reg Thompson (skip), Viv Horsecroft and Jan Sharwood.
It was an enjoyable way to spend the last drive of the season, and our thanks go to David Lewis and Howard Smith for a well organised event.
More Members joined to watch the game and afterwards we all gathered together to enjoy the fish and chip supper. Our thanks go to Derek Budd for organising the fish and chips, and to our
lovely bar staff who always work hard to fill our glasses
The winners of the Mixed evening league were: Henry Russell, Mervyn Reed, Dave Tolhurst and Keith Podrum. The runners up were: Rob Weaver, Brian Binning, Chris Gore and Paul Batt.
MIXED EVENING LEAGUE WINNERS
LADIES 2 WOOD BOX CLUB COMPETITION
On Monday 14th September the Club’s ladies played in the Ladies 2 Wood Box Competition. They were randomly picked and placed into four groups ABCD, with everyone from each group playing each other for 6 ends.
The top player from each group then played in the semi finals. A playing C, and B playing D. The winners then played in the final, and after a close game Angela Easton was the winner, with Jill Batt as the runner up.
Our thanks go to Captain Daphne and Vice Captain Alison for organising a well run competition, and to the six men who helped mark the games.
Hi everyone
Attached is a short video of the Finals Weekend recently. The weather was perfect, the food and drinks were popular and the bowls was very intense. Many members turned up to support the finalists who had spent the summer competing to reach the finals. A short video of some of the matches is attached with photos of the finalists receiving their trophies from Club President Derek Budd.
Many thanks must go to the bar staff and catering department for keeping everyone fed and watered.
FINALS WEEKEND VIDEO
Aussie Pairs Club Competition
On Tuesday 1st September the Club started the last month of bowling off with an Aussie Pairs Competition. Starting at 10am for an all day event 22 Members split into 11 teams, and many games later, lunch and adding up of all the points accumulated the final took place. After a very close score line the winners were Brian Binning and partner Claire Smith, with Mike Sneyd and partner Mervyn Reed worthy runners up. Our Club Captain William Mitchell presented the winners with the Cup, and our thanks go to David Lewis for organising a very enjoyable day.
2026 Men’s Jubilee Triples Competition
The competition was held on another hot, dry and sunny day, with 18 men taking part to win the cup and prizes. The final was very closely contested and the trophy was presented by Derek Budd (Club President) to Brian Binning, Barry Evans and Colin Francis. The competition took place on Wednesday 15th July on another very hot and sunny day.
Well attended by Members, 8 teams were split into two sections playing four games each resulting in the top two teams with the most points playing each other for the cup.
The winners were David Tolhurst, Claire and Howard Smith.
The runners up were Vi Nolan, Reg Thompson, Chris Reynolds, and Keith Pordum.

SUSSEX PRESIDENT’S DAY
SATURDAY 6th JUNE 2026
Our Club Member Martin Graham-Hyde is the Sussex County President for 2026 and arranged a match between the Sussex County Men and The Crouch Bowls Club.
Unfortunately, the match had to be abandoned after only a few ends played as torrential rain and high winds forced everyone inside.

To all Club members
Bar procedures
Following Mike Nolan’s retirement as Bar Manager, we wanted to communicate a few things to you all for information.
With immediate effect, Chris Reynolds will be assuming the Bar Manager role. Chris will act as the liaison point with the main Committee on bar matters and be responsible for dealing with bar accounting issues, cash and stock management etc.
Ashley Tyler has agreed to organise and manage the bar staff rota.
Alan Parr and Lionel Pelling will undertake stock purchases as and when needed.
Alan has also constructed a new secure store cupboard in the main clubhouse storeroom, which will hopefully reduce the number of trips needed to purchase bar supplies.
We have invested in a new till and cash register for the bar. This should greatly assist with accounting and stock management etc. A short period of training is planned for all volunteers on the bar rota.
The card reader will continue to be available to purchase bar orders over £5.00.
We have entered into an agreement with Lewes Council for the fortnightly disposal of all bar dry recycling waste, commencing on 1 December. You will observe that a new waste bin is now situated adjacent to the front of the Clubhouse for this purpose. The bin will be collected from the end of Bramber Lane. Ashley Tyler, Fred Hammond and Lionel Pelling have kindly agreed to be on a rota to move the bin to and from the collection point.
Bar Prices
Partly as a consequence of some of these changes, it has been decided to increase bar prices with immediate effect. However, we hope you will agree that our prices continue to represent excellent value for money. It is also worth stating that profits from the bar help to minimise annual subscription costs.

"Seaford Bowls Club was established in 1910 and a green was laid out in Chichester Road In 1934 another green was laid out by Seaford Council in the Crouch Gardens. This became a popular venue but in 1942 the Vice-Captain and Secretary were killed in an air raid and many records and trophies were destroyed. 90th ANNIVERSARY
CLUB DRIVE
2025
A beautiful sunny day at The Crouch saw many of the Club members playing in the 90th Anniversary Fun Drive.
The competition which was played in the tropical sun was followed by a great Tea Party in the Clubhouse.
The players needed plenty of refreshments during the afternoon but all seemed to have had a great time.

Dear Crouch Bowling Club
Thank you, so much for the beautifully crafted patchworks for the Community Coat, the response to our call for patches has been astonishing. As part of the celebrations of Seaford Town Council's 25" Anniversary, I reached out to Seaford residents, local artisans, community groups and schools to help design a Community Coat representing the amazing commitment of all those who currently work, volunteer and engage with Seaford communities.
Our work on the coat is now complete, and we have 91 patches from 50 organisations and individuals. This voluntary project aimed to demonstrate a 'moment in time', as an inclusive community initiative bringing people together in Seaford to celebrate our groups, organisations and natural surroundings. The logo above was crafted for the coat and we are indebted to the remarkable sewists that have come forward to offer their skills for this project.
I have felt incredibly privileged to have experienced the joy of sharing the coat, first as I led the Lantern Parade with our Town Crier Peter White for Christmas Magic last November, and since then on the occasions I have worn it to community events and visited local schools. I have been very touched by the stories that I have been hearing of local groups developing their patches together, such community activity underpins the aspirations we had for making this project a success.
After my last showing of the coat at our Town Forum on Thursday 1" May, please do come along, https://www.seafordtowncouncil.gov.uk/events/seaford-town-forum/ the Community Coat will be displayed for the next few weeks at Wave Leisure and will then reside in the Council Chamber. This project has reminded us that we truly have a golden thread of opportunity that connects our residents across all ages to a robust core of community concern which identifies local need and harnesses the skills and energy of local volunteers.
